Product Description

L-Tryptophan is an essential amino acid which means it cannot be synthesized by the body, but must be obtained from food or supplements.  Food sources include red meat, nuts, seeds, soybeans and soy products, tuna, shellfish, and legumes.

L-Tryptophan is the pre-cursor to serotonin, melatonin and niacin.  In order to use tryptophan the body also needs sufficient supplies of iron, riboflavin and vitamin B6.

L-Tryptophan is most affective taken along side some carbohydrate (fruit or orange juice) this is because carbohydrates cause the body to release insulin which in turn helps to utilise L-Tryptophan more easily.
