BioKap products are not tested on animals and are all vegan-friendly. The company carries out extensive dermatological tests for safety, in cooperation with Italian universities, and also support FRAME, the Fund for the Replacement of Animals in Medical Experiments.
Many of the BioKap hair products contain argan oil and their proprietary Tricorepair complex, which help nourish hair and ensure long-lasting colour with 100% grey coverage. Tricorepair is a complex made with rice proteins, willow extract, and fruit lipophilic acids. These help to protect and repair the structure of the hair and look after the scalp during application of the dye. Argan is a rich source of vitamin E and unsaturated fatty acids, which help restore shine to brittle, dry hair.

What you won’t find in BioKap hair products
BioKap hair colours are free from common nasties found in most hair dyes used in salons and at home. These include:
- Resorcinol (can be toxic to the nervous and endocrine systems and may cause respiratory problems)
- Ammonia
- Parabens
- Synthetic fragrances (natural and certified essential oils are used instead)
- Sodium laureth sulfate (SLES)
- Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS)
- PEG (polyethylene glycol)
- Silicones
- PPD (paraphenylenediamine).
PPD is a powerful chemical sensitizer common in hair dyes. It is known to trigger allergic reactions, can cause skin irritation and blistering, and has even been linked to an increased risk of Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
BioKap also test their hair dyes to ensure they are free from nickel, a toxic heavy metal.
